MY WORK

Banh Mi So Mot

Banh Mi So Mot, otherwise known as Banh Mi #1 is a local eatery here in Arlington, TX within Asian Time Square. They specialize in Banh Mi; a Vietnamese sandwich that is packed with various veggies and meats. They also serve other Vietnamese snacks and drinks. Although a wonderful place to dine and get authentic Vietnamese food, they needed a bit of an update on their logo and branding. That’s where I come in. I wanted to create an experience based on the Banh Mi. Starting from taking off their signature red rubber band, opening the crumbled white wrapping, to uncovering the Banh Mi itself. I also wanted to include a type that looked like it was drawn on with a marker. This is what the new branding is based on. After changing the name to full Vietnamese, Banh Mi So Mot was created.

Unseen Type

Unseen Type is a concept I created for the annual type show here at the University of Texas at Arlington. For the show, students can submit their work on how they would design the signage and overall theme. A student’s work is chosen and they create the rest of the signage for said show. At the type show, you will be able to witness not only the student-made theme but other student’s work that had been submitted. I wanted to create something interactive with the audience. Something that made people search, think, and explore the poster visually. I was able to achieve this with my concept of ‘Unseen Type’ using dots of various sizes and opacity. Of course, the vital information about the venue is visible, but can you find the secret word hidden with the dots?

Harmony Honey

Bee Harmony Honey is a company that produces ethically sourced honey. They are advocates of keeping the bee population safe, or as they would say staying ‘beesponsible’. They are also known for the variety of flavors they sell. Ranging from Orange Blossom to Turmeric Infused, you can really find anything that appeases your tastebuds. Each flavor comes in either a 3 oz or 12 oz jar with a neat, clean, and rather cute label. To recreate Bee Harmony Honey, I decided to make it less about the bees and more about the honey. More so to focus on the product. I then added some more color, organic shapes, and a cute little mascot to the labels. I replaced the cylindrical jar with a honeycomb-shaped jar, equipped with an actual honeycomb inside for convenience... and it looked cute..

Everland

Opening in 1976, Everland is Korea’s largest theme park and remains extremely popular to this day. Everland is home to Korea’s first-ever all-wooden rollercoaster, which also holds the title of one of the fastest coasters in the world. Inside the park are five differently-themed sections: European Adventure, Magic Land, American Adventure, Global Fair, and Zootopia. The only thing Everland was missing? A wayfinding system. To enhance the mood of Everland within the wayfinding, I based my designs on two keywords: Amusement and Magic. I condensed the branding colors down to two main colors, instead of the original five. After gathering all the new branding standards, I created a simple and unique wayfinding system that makes the magic quality of the park come to life.

ULTA

Annual reports are usually dull and lifeless. Nothing really catches the eye except for the occasional line graph. However, it is full of useful information that those involved with the company need to know. But who says useful can’t be fun? Why not create something worthwhile to look at? Creating something interesting to look at keeps users engaged and excited for the next release. This was exactly my goal in recreating ULTA’s Annual Report. With ULTA’s Annual Report, I wanted to make something bold that sticks within the beauty product scene. I also wanted to create illustrations that replaced graphs but still showed the value of numbers. Not only did I think the content of the report needed to be attractive, but I also believed the physical book itself needed to be held to the same standard.
